HOMEOWNERS-This policy covers the owner-occupant of a dwelling used only for private residential purposes. Homeowner insurance policies are considered multi-line contracts because they are comprised of two parts. The first section contains the property coverage while the second part provides casualty coverage. Additional endorsements can be added to your individual policy to ensure that you receive the amount of protection to fit your needs.

Property Coverage: The property coverage provided by most homeowners policies divide what is insured under property into four broad categories
  • Residence-insures the residence, additions, and built-in components and fixtures. A specific dollar amount is named on your homeowner policy based on the replacement cost of the dwelling.
  • Related Private Structures-insures unattached private structures on the premises, including fences, driveways, swimming pools, gazebos, sidewalks, etc.
  • Personal Property-insures property owned by or in the care of an insured including: clothing, furniture, appliances, etc. You can also insure specific articles such as: jewelry, furs, cameras, fine arts, coins, etc.
  • Additional Living Cost-pays the necessary and reasonable additional expenses the insured incurs to maintain the family's normal standard of living when the premises is made unfit for use following a covered loss.

Casualty Coverage: protects you from financial loss in the event that you or your family injures someone or damages someone else's property.
  • Personal Liability: Covers you and your family from legal liability for negligence if someone is injured or someone else's property is damaged. "Personal liability" coverage protects such occurrences on your insured property but also offers specific coverage away from the insured property. Additional coverage can be added and may include additional premium costs.
  • Medical Payments to Others: protects you from medical expenses incurred by guests while on your property. This coverage protects guests that have permission to visit your home or property rather than you or your family who are already covered. Specific coverage as well as exclusions and limitations are defined in each individual homeowners policy.
